I was reading in article in a magazine how parents are now helping their children right their resumes, checking their "Linkedin"'s and sometimes even accompanying them to an interview. As I read this I just about dropped the magazine in the commode. Really? Resumes? Interviews? Huh?? When did our culture become that which enables our children to the point where our children cannot do anything on their own? At what point did we forget about teaching independence in lieu of getting the best grades (ie. parents doing the work instead of students).? I was raised, albeit crazy in some of your minds, to be fiercely independent. Fiercely. I remember up until the point of going to Kindergarten in which my mom would say "to your bedroom, time to play by yourself, see you in 2 hours." And that I did. I had the BEST imagination and I played school or house or you name it with all my stuffed animals. I also had parents that NEVER did anything for me that I couldn't ...

I almost have a 2 year old! Where did the time go? Here is what Charlie is doing: Sleeping: He is still an excellent sleeper. We have occasional "blips" where is cries in the middle of the night (but we ignore unless it is longer than 5-10 minutes) and very occasionally cries when we put him down (maybe once every 2 weeks), but overall he cannot WAIT to get into his bed. Naps are still going well with an occasional "blip" here as well. Sometimes if he sleeps in (until 7:30 or later) he has a hard time going down for a nap and thus doesn't. It doesn't worry us too much as he is generally still very happy the entire time. He just spends his 2 hours in his crib practicing his jumping skills. Eating: This has gotten "slightly" better. He has started to eat about 3 peas and maybe 4 blueberries every now and again. It did take me at least 10 times of introducing this food item to him and him denying me. Sorry for the delay on writing the conclusion to the Vegas story. My laptop computer has been on the fritz (time for a new one..) and I HATE typing on my IPAD, thus, no journaling was done. Day three of Vegas started out with sleeping in, breakfast up in Bruce's sweet, and continued from there. We headed out to the Gold Coast with Mom and Dad for some Bingo and Craps. Let's just say that we got "crapped" on in all areas. However, we were ever so slightly lucky at the slot machines. Adam and I walked back to our hotel (about a mile walk) and met up with Bob and Gene for a quick bite before the Packer Playoff game. Of course, we watched the majority of the game in Bruce's suite, which was pretty sweet (the room, not the game). Then began the final cocktail hour of the weekend before dinner. Again, it was a lovely time despite the disappointing loss to the NY Giants (although they did end up winning the Super Bowl). We then headed over to the Range Restaurant whi...

Saturday we slept in until 8:30am and then joined the rest of the family (most of them, that is..) for a breakfast up in Bruce's suite. I had Bagel and Lox (the first time I have tried that and I LOVED it!). I cannot believe that I had never tried that before, but, I guess that salmon is not one of the main things to mix with cream cheese in Wisconsin. We prefer mixing our cheese with more cheese!   After breakfast, my sister and I went "shopping" at the Miracle Mile on the strip. It must have been a miracle because we did not buy anything (mainly because the stores were so high end that we couldn't afford any). We did see some unique clothing that we would have LOVED, but we were good. We then met the men-folk at New York, New York for some good old fashioned New York Style Pizza. It was delicious. Our trip to Vegas was absolutely phenomenal. We had an incredible time. Please read my account of our trip, if you wish, but remember the reason I am writing this all out is so that I have a memory book of this all down the road. If you get bored...move on to some better sights! Friday: Jeanne-mare, Greg, Adam and I drove to the Milwaukee Airport together. We shared laughs and good times as we struggled to get around the airport construction. Jeanne-marie almost lost her cookies a few times. The airport was dead and we had plenty of time to check in, eat, and relax before our Southwest Flight. The flight was outstanding. We arrived early, they fed up MULTIPLE snacks on the plane and refreshments. The best flight I have had in a decade. Not to mention the flight attendant had a GREAT sense of humor! Upon arrive, we were greeted with a sign that said, "Nicole Sayre" held up by our limo driver. That is a cool feeling. He drove us over to the Bellagio. We checked in, and ran...

Today was Charlie's first snowfall where he could actually walk and play! Here are some pictures of him enjoying the snow with Daddy!

In less than 24 hours, Adam and I are going to Las Vegas for 3 nights and 4 days. This is the longest we have been away from Charlie...ever. I am nervous, as all mom's are, about leaving my precious pumpkin, but I know he is in the best hands possible (Grandma and Papa Sayre). I don't worry about his care, they are excellent grandparents, but I worry about them getting "tired" of him. I realize this is not that long of a time, but I remember seeing my parents and how tiring it was with a little one after a certain amount of time. There is a reason we can't "reproduce" at the age of 60 anymore....energy isn't there like it was at age 30. I bought Charlie a present (something small) for each day that we are gone. Stuff to keep him "occupied" while we are gone. I am going to try to limit my calling to once or twice a day, max. And I am probably going to have Adam do it so that I don't cry at the sound of his little voice "talking...
