Painting the House-Before and After

Image
Here is a look at our house color originally, and then after we got it painted. We love it! Old Color-Brown and very Top Heavy New Color-Maple Butter with Topaz Trim and Sage Green Door (not sure if we like the door yet, may repaint at some point)

I love "wa-wa" (water)

Charlie is a bit obsessed with water right now. He will spend hours throwing rocks into ponds and such. He is also in love with the sewer grates (weird, I know). But, we will just support his weird obsession until he either because a Department of Public Works Employee or finds a new obsession.

Great Family Photo

Every now and again, we actually get Charlie to look at the camera and maybe smile. If we are really lucky, he is dressed up. If we are EXTREMELY lucky, we are dressed up as well. Here is one of those EXTREMELY lucky photos from Easter:

Happy Mother's Day-2012

Image
The weather was gorgeous here this weekend. What wasn't so gorgeous was Charlie's little "illness" that he contracted over the weekend. I knew something was up when he woke up from his nap on Saturday and didn't want to get out of his crib. He just stayed and cuddled with me. It was very sweet, and I loved it until.....you guessed it, he puked ALL over me and the blankets. I quickly called for Adam and he rushed in and got him into the bathroom. That was all there was to it. Two hours later, he was playing and asking for food. We fed him, he didn't puke anymore. The next day, Mother's day, he was a little "off" but mainly because he didn't sleep the best that night. For Mother's Day this year, Adam and Charlie got me a BEAUTIFUL hanging basket with flowers, a few homemade items, and my Chaco sandals (pictures to come soon!). It was a fine Mother's Day despite the illness around the house, that Adam and I are awaiting to get ours...

Attachment Parenting...not for me!

I am sure many of you have seen the controversial new "Time" Magazine cover. We get it at our house so we have an upfront view. The image on the front does not disturb me, I think breastfeeding is a great thing! I am slightly disturbed with a 3 year old breastfeeding. Not so much from the actual look of it (I am all about the body), but more so the idea behind it. I read the "Time" article about attachment parenting. I always knew this was not me. It was not how I was raised, nor is it how we are choosing to raise our child. I say "we" with importance. I think my biggest gripe with "attachment parenting" has to do with the fact that daddy is not very involved. It is about co-sleeping (so basically your husband gets kicked out of bed so your baby can have a suckle on your boob all night), and moms responding to every whimper of a cry, and mom's going through natural childbirth with the daddy only "thinking" he is helping (let's...

Easter 2012 Fun!

Image
Easter this year was spent at the Sayre's house. While we use to consider the "Wanta" holidays as "chaotic," I believe that the tide has now turned. All the "kids" at the Wanta's are teens for the most part and all the "kids" at the Sayre's are under the age of 5. So, as you can imagine, holidays are enough to send you batty. Here are some pictures from Easter Egg Hunting, dying eggs, and a tantrum to boot: Nicely dressed! Working very hard! I guess this counts as a good picture. I told you mom, don't put those damn ears on me! I warned you! This is what would happen! Life is so hard, especially when I am crying and you are just taking pictures!

What a weekend!

The last week or so have been very, very busy. On Thursday last week, the choir that I co-teach went on a field trip to Lakeland College where we were judged. We got great ratings of "1's" for all three songs and judges. Yeah. My mother came in to watch Charlie (thanks Mom) on both Thursday and Friday as I made a quick little "jaunt" to San Francisco to be with my friend Ann who is going to be a bone marrow donor to her brother. I wasn't there during the actual process, but was there to keep her company and make sure that she gave herself the shots that she needed. While out there we walked A LOT. Especially through Golden Gate Park as well as a cute little hike on a cliff over looking the ocean. We saw a whale, sea lions, and naked sunbathers (the best part!). We ate some great food and treated ourselves to manicures and pedicures. Adam had "daddy" time with Charlie. He was going to use this time to "man" Charlie up (he is a bit of...
