Starting to Reopen

The State Legislature opened our state back up about a week ago now. They didn't phase anything in. Some bars were packed. Then Dane County put us back in "safer at home" until they recreated some more guidelines. Needless to say May 26th, we get a phase 1 reopening. Restaurants, etc can be at 25% capacity, etc.

Colin will go back to the Treehouse 2 days a week for 3 hours each. The kids will likely do playground program.

I don't know a person who isn't anxious about all this. Certainly it brings "uncertainty" with it, but we also know we can't do this "shelter in place" forever. Most of us are doing a risks/benefits assessment. Adam and I are healthy, we take 0 medications, lots of vitamins, work out constantly, eat "better" than most Americans , and moderate our alcohol consumption (even during Covid). That's not to say we won't die from this, but the odds are in our favor. So, for our kids MENTAL health, for some semblance of normalcy, we are going to resume activities in small does.

Our priorities:
1) allow the kids activities and chances to BE with other kids and play--MOSTLY OUTDOORS
2) avoid all large gatherings, but instead mingle in smaller groups (like a buddy family etc..) for campfires, etc.
3) avoid restaurants and bars UNLESS they have outdoor seating that is far away from others.
4) keep shopping online (mostly)-gone are the days of aimlessly wandering around Menards/Home Depot.
5) go to our pool (if it opens) but keep social distancing from others!
6) travel only to West Bend (if Grandma and papa allow), the UP, and Black River Falls (Greg's family cabin/airbnb).

Basically, we are going to live our lives outside this summer. We know there is risk; but we will minimize our chance at being another statistic.

I am not unrealistic in the sense that EVERYONE has to get covid 19 at some point. So, I am hoping we are the ones that get a mild case. And...I'd prefer to get it over the summer vs the winter :)

Blessings as we navigate this new world.
