Good Choice-Verona

We have almost been in Verona for one year now. I can just about, with 100 percent confidence, say that this was the best decision that we have have ever made for our family.

Adam's job is going extremely well, he is presenting a the WAPA conference (Urban Planner's conf in Wisconsin) and leading a tour group out to EPIC for a tour on their green spaces. He is extremely busy, almost too much so, but he is building his resume quickly with all the projects he has done. And the "I will try to sleep with the planner to get a new restaurant" jokes never get old.  He is coaching 4 year old soccer through the REC department, which is funny and adorable and almost done (we are kinda excited not to rush out on Saturday mornings again).

Charlie has a great group of friends at his preschool. Jack, Addison, Kinley, Sophia, Liam, and Blake have all become great friends and super sweet! I am thrilled that his social skills have increased so much. He adores playing with other children now. He even tries to engage Carrie in play, without much success, but he is initiating. He is a great little swimmer at SwimWest and I am thrilled at the instruction they give. I will post a video soon of his skills. He rides his bike (balance) around the entire city and he is just about ready to hop on the two wheel bike. He keeps talking about his pedal bike (which Grandpa Wanta is tuning up) and is ready to give it a shot. He is a brave little boy. He is fascinated by books right now, building choo-choo sets, doing legos, cooking, gardening (especially looking for worms), etc....

My proudest moments: at church with Charlie. Someday I will have someone secretly videotape him, but he is just incredible. He sits up on stage with me kind of "hidden" behind the piano. He air drums the entire song with precision. He is so into his music, that I am quite sure an earthquake could occur and he would never know. He crescendos and decrescendos appropriately, he maintains a beat, and most importantly, he is filled with the Holy Spirit. I adore him.

Carolyn adores being around people, especially her brother and at preschool. In fact, I think she wants to be left there. Soon, baby girl, soon! She is displaying her 18 month attitude that makes me laugh. Her temper involves squatting down and putting her hands on the ground to show her disapproval. Haha! The one negative thing...she does not talk. She babbles ALL THE TIME and looks at me as though I know what she is saying, but nothing resembling English is coming out. On a "good" day we maybe have "dada" and "mama" but not in reference to us. I sometimes here a real muffled version of "thank you." So, times are getting a little frustrating now as she is trying to communicate, but nothing is coming out that we understand. I will mention this to the DR. at her 18 month appt unless she steps up her game soon.

I am thrilled to be here!! There is so much to do and such positive attitudes about life and willingness to grow, learn, change!! I took a knitting class and can do basic scarves. I plan on taking more. I am finishing up my time at my current place and then opening up my own little thing (I will tell you more later). I have a nice group of friends, in fact, I have made more friends here in the last 9 months than I did in 9 years in West Bend. I am so happy. I have people to hang out with that are educated, driven, like to have drinks (who doesn't?), but are also working to make a difference!! They are also in the same "season" of life as us in regard to kids, staying home with children, the stresses, the joys, etc...For the first time in a LONG time, I can say that I have friends my age and that they are awesome!

I finished up 3 more graduate level classes these last 8 weeks. They went fine and I took them in Early Childhood Education. I have no idea if this is where I will go later in my life...but it doesn't hurt to have some classes under my belt. I also taught a Professional Development Class for Early Childhood Educators on Music and Movement. That was a lot of fun and a new experience for me.

Being a stay at home mom has been awesome since moving here. There is so much to do with the children! I have also taken a new view of this "stay at home" mom thing. I adore it. These 2 kids of mine are spectacular, they truly are. Although some moments are trying, most moments are amazing and I am fortunate to do it everyday. This time next year, Charlie will be ending 4k and looking forward to 5 yr old Kindergarten, all day, everyday. He will be ready, I am confident, but wow, I think I will actually miss him. Luckily, I will still have Carrie home with me and maybe someday I can talk or "trick" Adam into a 3rd?? ;)

So, when are you coming to visit? Or, when are you moving out here?
