Charlie-4 years old
My first born is officially four! I can hardly believe it!
What an amazing journey it has been and I thought I would share a few things about him.
Height: 40.5" (54 percentile)
Weight: 33 lbs (20th percentile)
BMI: below the 7th percentile.
So he is tall-ish and skinny...a good way to be!!
Eating:
He eats a fairly healthy diet. He obviously strongly desires desserts at all time. He will get through dinner, just so a dessert can occur! Ha. I think he has my sweet tooth. Right now he is in love with cashews, raisins, granola bars, and broccoli. And desserts! He often makes dinner a seemingly long battle, in which he is the only one left at the table. I am sure we will work through this behavior as well.
Sleeping:
No more naps, but takes 1 1/2 hours of quiet time in the basement playing by himself. He then sleeps from about 8pm until 8am. Just recently, he has been going all night without a wet diaper. So, we are officially night trained as well. It is kinda cute how he runs to the bathroom when he gets up. He has also learned to pee standing up, on a side note!
Development:
He knows 24/26 of his upper case letters and 18/26 of his lower case letters. He cannot write his name yet, but he has til the end of 4k to achieve this skill. He can count from 1-20 well, we are working from there. He knows all his major shapes and all colors. He is really into exit signs and fire alarms right now and when we drive he is constantly asking what that sign says (various signs).
Charlie is in soccer, but this may be short lived. He is, as of now, the slowest kid on the team. But, maybe this will change. He LOVES swimming and is an absolute fish. Goes to the bottom of the pool and picks stuff up, jumps by himself, can float for 15 seconds on his back, can roll from back float to front. He is amazing!
Charlie also LOVES church. Whether I am playing piano or just in the congregation, Charlie is amazing. When in the congregation, Charlie dances to every song. Afterwards, the pastor comes up and says "Wow, he really has the Holy Spirit flowing through him, doesn't he?" Yes, he does. And I could not be prouder! So, while soccer may be short lived, I think it is time to look into some more formal dance lessons. Charlie feels music the same way that I do. Full of passion, excitement, and just always into it!
Preschool is going very well. He loves his 6 friends of: Kinley, Addison, Liam, Blake, Jack and Sofia. They are the nicest group of kids and play dramatic play amazingly well together. Very very sweet!
Charlie loves reading books and has quite a few memorized and reads them back to us from memory. He also loves playing outside with the neighbor friends and being silly! Charlie is also into building choo choo train tracks and doing Legos as well. He also does 48 piece puzzles with great ease. I can see his brain already....he is creative, like me.
Speech therapy is pretty much done. Just once a month now for "maintenance" but he is has improved vastly!
Charlie is truly the sweetest boy. He is always giving kisses and hugs. He listens quite well and all it takes is a quick "I am gonna count.." for him to quickly change his behavior. On a side note, the "I am going to count" has been so quick to work that I have not had to spank him in almost 2 years. He now gets "the look" from me and stops pretty quick.
We adore absolutely everything about you Charlie, you are an amazing child and I am SO proud to be your parent. I look forward to many more years of sharing your accomplishments.
