End 2013-Begin 2014
This year can be summed up in one word: CHANGE
Moving to a new house, a new community, starting preschool, all the changes that a newborn goes through, new job for Adam, new job for Nicki, new church, hopefully new friends (and some old as well!).
All of it has been for the better, not necessarily easier, but for the better.
Here are some of my bucket list items for 2014:
--Go and visit Bob and Gene in Oregon (without the kids).
--Create learning items for Charlie to improve his fine motor and speech skills (a post on this later).
--Teach Charlie how to ride bike with pedals (he is great with balance on 2 wheels).
--Start road biking again (maybe once a month??)
--Convince husband that a 3rd child would not be a bad idea! (hehe)
--Read lots and lots and even more books to my kids.
--Maybe run a mile? or two?
--We already eat very healthy, but growing a garden of our own is on the TOP of the list!
--Create and try new recipes and plan out meals in advance so I am not scrambling at 4pm with dinner when kids are super cranky!
--Read, read, and read more! Books! Books and more books!
--Still wish I could start a book club, or bust in on someone's. The one I tried to start here failed miserably.
By the way, I am not sure if I mentioned this, but I love our new church. It is a Lutheran church out here on the West Side. It has 5 pastors, all are excellent. I sing with the band (or play piano)and the music is awesome. The sermons often leave me in tears they touch my heart so much and the music always leaves me in tears (when I am not playing, that is!). Ha! The other weekend they even do a "family blessing"--each family comes up individually and gets a 30-60 second private blessing from the pastor. You are all huddled together, hugging, and feeling so special. This is awesome. I could NEVER EVER have imagined this at a Catholic Church. I feel so blessed. Then again, I know that I am one of the "few" out there that feel music in a certain way that just touches the soul. I realize that not everyone feels this. To each their own. I have a feeling Charlie may be similar to me in that regard.
It was a lovely 2013, full of change, but good change. Here is to 2014 being full of settlement and comfort. May we, through the Lord, find our comfort and dig our heals into this land that we call home. Happy New Year!
