Barb and Cliff came to visit this weekend to see Carrie's Dance Recital, Celebrate Colin's 3rd Birthday and go to the UW Band Concert. With all that fun, and a few "to do's" for Papa, we definitely were busy. We sure like having them in town, it is truly the only grandparents that our children will get to know well. Which makes me sad, because Elaine and Rhode Wanta were pretty awesome parents and pretty awesome grandparents as well. I hope my kids get to know my parents through my stories. And that they get to know countless days and nights with Barb and Cliff. At the Memorial Union (the new Alumni Park)

Carrie likes to exclaim " I LOVE THE STAGE" and she truly does. She isn't afraid, she is confident and proud and strong in her abilities. Little lady, may you take this confidence with you as you grow up and become a young woman. We love you dearly and enjoyed seeing the JOY upon your face as you danced the night away.

If this isn't the best birthday expression ever...I am not sure what is! This kid is becoming more and more awesome by the day. Someone pinch me!

I can't believe the kid who taught me how to be a Mom (and a Dad) has turned 8! Oh my goodness. He is over 50"tall and weighs about 50lbs. He wants to be a meteorologist when he grows up. He does a great job playing piano, in swim lessons, and of course, building tons of stuff with Legos. For his birthday he got an electric train set. We love this kid tons and tons!

Spring Break 2018 took us to Duluth, MN. We had to FIGHT THE TRAFFIC all the way there. All the people going north for spring break is just unreal.... Ha! As Charlie says "we don't like to go South for spring break, we like to go North." Apparently this is true, at least for this year.  Duluth was awesome. A great aquariam and Train Depot and a pool in the condo kept us plenty occupied. On our way home we stopped at the Mall of America. We did rides, obviously, and it was PACKED. Like almost panic attack inducing. We stayed overnight at a hotel and have found that: one room (at least a standard room) is just too small for this family of 5. Can anyone say extra LARGE Starbucks? But we have some good stories to take back, that's for sure!

So when a person dies, you have an entire year to grieve through all of the events that they are no longer here for. This includes birthdays, holidays, polka fests (for dad), etc... Today we celebrated Dad's birthday by bringing a cake to the Aster for Mom and going out to eat at Vintage in Madison with whomever from the family was available. It was a joyous day.  Dad-I hope that your birthday in Heaven was spectacular.
