Vacation to Oregon

We took the older two kids on vacation for the first time, ever. Well, other than to the UP. We had a great time in Oregon and did a variety of things. The kids had a blast and some great memories from the trip. Shockingly, even at the ocean, it was very HOT. Like 95 degrees at the ocean house (and then we went down to the beach and it was 20 degrees cooler...weird). We hiked all the way up to Multnomah Falls. Charlie did it all himself and Carrie had a bit of assistance from daddy. But alas, we made it! A rough fall

Charlie jumped off a swing and broke the radius and ulna bones on July 29. Poor kiddo.  A bummer way to end summer as all water activities and playground group, etc has to be discontinued.  I must admit though, he has been a trooper. Despite the medications making him puke for the 24 hours after, he has been rather pain free. What does hurt though? His heart. And this is probably the hardest for momma to see. We picked Carrie up at a hotel where she was swimming in which Charlie said with a tear in his eye "oh that looks soooo fun." A momma can't help but cry for him. So we walked around hotel floors trying to distract him. Later in the week he said "I'm ready for summer to be over, I can't do anything." Poor babe.  We bought him a waterproof cast protecter which allowed him to take a shower tonight (he dislikes baths now) and hopefully will allow up flexibility on our trip to Oregon. We have one more week here of finding things to do that involve minima...
